Equal Research Programme
The aim of our Equal research programme was to ceate a new evidence-base that would directly feed into the mainstreaming strategy and strengthen the ability to influence policy and practice, at regional, national and European levels.
Priority areas for this research have been identified through meetings and discussions with policymakers and practitioners.
Reports are available to download from our Online Library:
Employment success factors for homeless people with health conditions - Very few people make the transition from homelessness to employment. Those who succeed in doing this whilst also managing a serious health condition are exceptional. This report draws on the experiences of a group of people who have made this achievement. It is the aim of this report to allow their success to be translated into policy and service delivery improvements for others experiencing homelessness and health conditions and who also aspire to sustainable full time work.
The role of housing providers in enabling homeless people’s employment success - This research aims to consider more completely the role that housing services currently play in enabling homeless people to move into work, and to develop ideas for how they could better support this process in the future.
The cost and benefits of formal work for homeless people - Research considering the range of costs and benefits that may be experienced by single homeless people moving into formal employment, and the wider social costs and benefits of them entering work. Drawing upon the views of homeless people staying in London hostels, senior stakeholders from across the sector and upon new economic analysis, the study draws out the key impacts of work, both financial and non-financial, for single homeless people and for society.
Enabling employment success for homeless individuals - Ten key policy messages -An OSW report that summarises and highlights the ten key policy recommendations that need to be addressed to enable homeless individuals to access sustainable and suitable employment.
European research study into homelessness and employment - New OSW research identifying, across nine European countries, some of the employment and training support that is most effective for homeless individuals.
